Chronicle Herald cuts jobs

The Halifax Chronicle Herald announced yesterday it will cut 24 jobs at the paper – almost one quarter of its newsroom staff will be laid off.

The Halifax  Chronicle Herald announced yesterday it will cut 24 jobs at the paper – almost one quarter of its newsroom staff will be laid off.

The Herald began talks yesterday with the union representing the newsroom employees. The paper is looking to offer buyouts to lessen the impact of the cuts.

The announcement came on the same day the Globe and Mail announced it would be cutting 14 employees from its newsroom.
