Masthead No More

After 21 years of operation, President Alexander Donald said North Island Publishing, which puts out the magazine, Masthead, will no longer print after the November/December ’08 issue hits the stands. The online edition of Masthead will also be discontinued.

On October 23rd, Canada’s magazine about Canadian magazines announced it was folding.

After 21 years of operation, President Alexander Donald said North Island Publishing, which puts out the magazine, Masthead, will no longer print after the November/December ’08 issue hits the stands.  The online edition of Masthead will also be discontinued.

In an article published on Masthead’s website, Donald said the magazine “tried several publishing models over the years but none worked well enough to keep the magazine going.”

North Island Publishing will continue to serve the Canadian graphic design community by printing and maintaining Design Edge Canada, a magazine aimed at editorial art directors in the country.

The closure of the magazine will result in the loss of two full-time positions.
